Allergan has recently released a new formulation of their widely popular dermal filler,
Juvederm®. This new formulation, called Juvederm XC, contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic which will numb the treatment area and provide increased comfort during your procedure.
Previous formulations of
Juvederm would often require the use of a topical anesthetic to reduce pain at the injection site. These anesthetics would take as long as 30 minutes to start working. In contrast, the lidocaine in Juvederm XC will take effect in a matter of seconds, reducing treatment time as well as the pain associated with your procedure.
In clinical trials, 93% of patients reported less pain when using Juvederm XC compared with the original formulation of Juvederm.
Several other
dermal fillers, including Restylane® and Perlane®, have also received FDA approval for lidocaine formulations. Restylane-L and Perlane-L both contain lidocaine to improve comfort during your treatment. Clinical trials for both of these fillers demonstrated a substantial reduction in pain associated with the procedure. Approximately 72% of patients using Restylane-L reported less pain than those using Restylane, and 95% of Perlane-L patients reported a reduction in pain compared to those using original formulations of the filler.
Juvederm XC, Restylane-L, and Perlane-L all provide the same high quality, long lasting results for the reduction of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds, especially the nasolabial folds near the nose and mouth.
