What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a nonsurgical procedure that temporarily reduces frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet. Several tiny injections are made which block nerve impulses to the muscles in the treated region, reducing the muscle activity that causes these lines.

Your treatment can be completed in about 15 minutes, and the results should last approximately 4 months. Additional treatments will be needed to maintain your results once wrinkles start to reappear.

Is BOTOX® Cosmetic painful?

You may experience some mild discomfort during the treatment, but this will subside quickly. You may choose to have the treated area numbed with an anesthetic cream prior to receiving your injection to reduce discomfort. You should be able to resume regular activity immediately following treatment.

Will my facial expressions look natural after my procedure?

Your BOTOX® cosmetic treatment will not drastically alter your facial appearance. The procedure simply reduces the muscle activity responsible for creating wrinkles and frown lines. While results may be noticeable, they will not impact your ability to display common facial expressions in a natural manner.

Am I a candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic?

Ideal candidates for BOTOX® Cosmetic have a desire to reduce wrinkles and frown lines caused by aging. The treatment can be safely performed on patients over the age of 18. If you have an infection at the treatment region, you should wait until it clears up before undergoing the procedure.

Who should administer my BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment?

Any authorized health care professional can administer your BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment. However, for the best results, you should work with a board certified plastic surgeon or a licensed aesthetician who is highly trained in administering BOTOX ®Cosmetic and who has a great deal of experience performing the procedure.
