Laser hair removal is a procedure that employs an intense, pulsating laser to remove unwanted hair. You will generally need several treatment sessions before you can experience long-term results.

Am I a Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

The following criteria will help you determine if you are an ideal candidate for laser hair removal:

• Dark, coarse hair and light skin generally yield the best results in the fewest treatment sessions
• Blonde, gray, and red hair does not respond as well to treatment
• Dark skin may limit the effectiveness of the treatment
• If you have a spent a significant amount of time in the sun, you will want to wait until your tan fades to begin treatment
• Skin disorders such as psoriasis, cystic acne, and dermatitis may rule you out as a candidate
• Taking certain skin medications such as Retin-A or Accutane may rule you out as a candidate
• People who are pregnant, use a pacemaker, or have metal screws in the treatment region are not candidates

Laser Hair Removal Procedure

Your laser hair removal procedure will be performed at one of our Facial Aesthetics medical spa treatment centers in Denver and Greenwood Village , Colorado. Depending on the size of the treatment region, your procedure may take as little as one hour or last as long as several hours. It is important to remember that you may require multiple sessions to achieve optimal results.

Our Denver aestheticians will apply a numbing lotion to the treatment region to minimize discomfort. A high-intensity pulsed light laser beam will treat the region to remove hair follicles while preserving the skin around the treatment area. The laser will be able to scan a wide area of your body during the process, making it much more quick and efficient than electrolysis.

Laser Hair Removal Aftercare

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, and you should be able to resume normal activities immediately following your hair removal treatment. However, you should refrain from vigorous exercise, Jacuzzi use, and sun tanning for at least 24 hours.

You should gently clean the treatment region with mild soap after the procedure and apply any lotions that we may prescribe for use. You should only experience minimal discomfort. However, if you notice the presence of red or white bumps, ingrown hairs, or scabs, contact us immediately.

You will want to wait to begin follow-up sessions until hair has started to grow under the skin. This may take up to 12 weeks.
