Hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers like Restylane®, Perlane®, and Juvéderm® can all be injected into the lips to boost their volume and fullness. One of the most common questions we are asked about lip injections is how painful they will be. Thankfully, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved new formulations of all three of these fillers that contain lidocaine – a local anesthetic that quickly numbs the treatment area, keeping you comfortable and reducing the need for topical anesthesia.

The lidocaine formulations of these fillers are known as:

  • Restylane-L
  • Perlane-L
  • Juvederm® XC

Previously, all of these dermal fillers required the use of plenty of topical anesthesia, which could take as long as 30 minutes to successfully numb the area. Lidocaine starts taking effect within seconds, and will keep you relaxed throughout the short injection process. Our experienced Denver aestheticians are dedicated to providing you with the finest quality dermal filler treatments available today.
