BOTOX® Cosmetic is a safe cosmetic treatment for the improvement of dynamic wrinkles. However, it does have some minor side effects. The most common side effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic are:

  • Swelling at injection site
  • Redness at injection site
  • Pain at injection site
  • Headache
  • Drowsiness
  • Tight muscles
  • Dry mouth
  • Cold-like symptoms
  • Dry, irritated, or teary eyes
  • Difficulty closing eyes
  • Excess sweating

Sometimes, BOTOX® Cosmetic results in more serious side effects that need to be addressed. These are often described as “complications” and occur in a very small number of subjects. If you experience these symptoms you should contact your doctor:

  • Vision changes
  • Eyelid swelling
  • Problems swallowing, speaking or breathing
  • Loss of strength and all-over muscle weakness

These effects are generally rare, and may be less frequent when you work with a skilled injector.

During your consultation we will talk about these and any other concerns you may have. Please contact Facial Aesthetics to schedule an appointment at our Denver or Littleton office.
