Find out more about BOTOX® Cosmetic:

What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is an injectable treatment that is derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. When injected, BOTOX® Cosmetic actually stops the nerve signals from firing in your facial muscles. By stopping this firing, wrinkles will stop forming and the wrinkles that already exist will dissipate.

What can BOTOX® Cosmetic Do for Me?

Targeted injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic into facial tissue temporarily interrupt nerve signals to nearby muscles. By reducing muscle activity, BOTOX® Cosmetic can relieve fine lines and deep-set wrinkles on areas of the face such as:

What areas can Botox treat?

  • Forehead
  • Between the eyebrows (frown lines)
  • The corners of the eyes (crow's feet)

A BOTOX® Cosmetic session consists of one or more gentle injections with a thin needle. An injection appointment at our Denver med-spa takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes, and you'll be able to enjoy your new, youthful look for approximately four months.

Am I a Candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic?

Like any other cosmetic treatment, you must fulfill specific requirements in order to get the procedure. At Facial Aesthetics, we consider you a good candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic injections if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are free of any known allergies to BOTOX® Cosmetic or related products
  • You have good facial symmetry
  • You are free of facial scars or pre-existing skin conditions
  • You have good facial muscle strength
  • You are not pregnant or nursing at the time of your treatment

Your BOTOX® Cosmetic Consultation

To fully determine your candidacy for this injectable, you will meet with our clinically trained staff for an initial consultation. Here, we will discuss your qualifications and overall goals.

  • You will also want to be sure to inform us of anything that may hinder your cosmetic results, including:
  • Medical conditions
  • Medications you are taking, including vitamins and supplements
  • Questions or concerns you may have regarding treatment
  • Any known allergies

Sometimes, people find that they do not meet the requirements to be a BOTOX® Cosmetic patient . If this is the case, our team may recommend other skin care treatments to help you get the youthful appearance you want to achieve.

Benefits of BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic is one of the most popular, reliable solutions for wrinkle reduction and anti-aging. Some of the reasons patients love this injectable treatment include:

  • Natural looking, conservative results
  • Results are often visible within days of your appointment
  • Injections are designed to be virtually painless – no anesthetic is required
  • Side effects are uncommon, and tend to be minor and short-lived when they do occur
  • No downtime is required after the injections are complete
  • Wrinkle relief from subsequent injections tends to last longer than after the first treatment

For optimal results, it's very important to seek out experienced BOTOX® Cosmetic providers who are committed to helping you obtain the best results possible. As the only medical spa in the Denver area to be honored with the prestigious Black Diamond status (top 1% of providers nationwide) from Allergan, the Facial Aesthetics staff is uniquely qualified to provide you with the best treatment using BOTOX® Cosmetic, Juvederm®, and other injectables.

Is BOTOX® Cosmetic Safe?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is incredibly safe. Sometimes, when people hear that BOTOX® Cosmetic is derived from Botulinum toxin A, the word "toxin" gives them pause. However, there's no cause for concern.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is made from a purified form of Botulinum toxin A. It is also diluted with a saline solution before it is injected. That means that BOTOX® Cosmetic is administered in concentrations far below harmful levels.

That being said, any medical or cosmetic treatment can be dangerous in the wrong hands. You shouldn't trust your BOTOX® Cosmetic procedure to an amateur any more than you should heart surgery.

How Much Does Botox Cost?

The cost of BOTOX® Cosmetic can vary, but it's generally around $20 per unit with 20 to 60 units used per treatment. Therefore, BOTOX® Cosmetic session can cost between $500 and $800.

Click here to read our reviewsBeware if you see prices that seem too good to be true, because they probably are. If you needed a knee replacement, would you go bargain-hunting? You shouldn't. BOTOX® Cosmetic is the same principle. If you simply go for the cheapest option available, you will get subpar treatment, unpredictable results, and potentially an inexperienced injector. That is when your BOTOX® Cosmetic could potentially get dangerous.

Instead of opting for the cheapest BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment available, opt for the best. At Facial Aesthetics, we are recognized by Allergan, the makers of BOTOX® Cosmetic, as a Black Diamond injector. That means we're in the top 1 percent of BOTOX® Cosmetic providers in the country. We've also been voted the top med spa in Colorado by readers of 5280 magazine.

Before Your BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatment

Enhance the results that you experience from Facial Aesthetics treatment therapies by following a few simple instructions provided by your clinician. As a reminder, here are guidelines specific to each therapy. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding your post-treatment regimen.

Before your BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment, to minimize bruising avoid the following: baby aspirin, Aleve, Motrin, multivitamins, vitamin E and D, fish oils, alcoholic beverages. These are blood thinners and will cause you to bruise more easily.

Do not use BOTOX® Cosmetic if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to any of its ingredients, or suffer from any neurological disorders. Please inform your clinician if you have any questions about this prior to the procedure.

Sunburnt skin can sometimes be painful when treated. We always recommend using sunscreen to protect your skin.

It's important not to have a bacterial or fungal infection or an abrasion in the area of the injection as it can cause it to spread.

If you are having an injection done to your lips, and are prone to cold sores, contact your clinician for advice on a anti-viral therapy.

Always inform your clinician of all medications you may be taking as well as your medical history

BOTOX® Cosmetic Recovery

It may take up to two weeks for you to experience the full effect of your treatment. It takes time for the muscles to lose strength and the lines to fade. Remain patient.

Bruises are possible with BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment. Applying ice and taking Arnica for 4-8 days post treatment will help bruising to heal.

Bumps at the site of injection are normal. This is because the Botox is laying under the skin waiting to be absorbed by the muscle. These bumps go away within 30-45 minutes post-treatment.

  • no bending lifting, lying down for 4 hours
  • no exercise for 24 hours
  • do not touch your face or the areas where the Botox was injected for 4 hours
  • if you want to reapply makeup, we recommend our makeup artist do it for you post treatment - all makeup applications are complimentary.
  • no face down massage or facials for 24 hours

  • move the facial muscles that were treated every 15 minutes for the next 4 hour
  • be aware the onset will begin in 2-3 days and the full effect will take place in 10-14 days

How Long Does Botox Last?

It's important not to allow BOTOX® Cosmetic to wear off completely, because the muscles will start contracting again causing progression of the line or wrinkle. Because BOTOX® Cosmetic is a temporary procedure the results will most likely last 2.5-3.5 months. It is important for you to keep up your appointment schedule to maintain your results. For this reason, we highly recommend you schedule your next appointment before you leave.

While BOTOX® Cosmetic appointments can be expensive, if you pre-book your next appointment we offer a discount on your next appointment.
